Firstfruits

During the last 2000 years, the body of believers has been growing.  Different parts of the body have been coming into existence.  It is important to understand that there are differences and what is at stake for all believers.

Paul declares in 1 Corinthians 15:20:

20But now is Messiah risen from the dead, and become the firstfruits of them that slept.

Yeshua is the firstfruits of the resurrection.  The firstfruit portion is the earliest gathering of the fruits.  This is generally considered to be the best part of the harvest, Colossians 1:18.

18And he is the head of the body, the assembly: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence.

Yeshua was the first resurrected to eternal life.  He is the first of all fruits of the new birth.  As for those that follow after Him, James tells us in James 1:18:

18Of his own will begat he us with the word of truth, that we should be a kind of firstfruits of his creatures.

As believers, we are not necessarily firstfruits.  We are to strive to be as Him; to strive to be a firstfruit as He is.  Now there are those that are called firstfruits in Revelation 14:4.

4These are they which were not defiled with women; for they are virgins. These are they which follow the Lamb whithersoever he goeth. These were redeemed from among men, being the firstfruits unto God and to the Lamb

The question that should be asked is, if these are firstfruits, is there something special about them or is this all believers?  The Bible answers this question, if we allow it to.
