Holy Spirit (Eternal Security)

God keeps us secure, because of the Holy Spirit.  Yeshua tells us in John 14:16.

16And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;

God gave us the Holy Spirit, Romans 11:29.

29For the gifts and calling of God are without repentance.

God does not take back what He has given us.  Because of this, the Holy Spirit abides with us forever.  When one has the Holy Spirit within them, Ephesians 1:13-14 is true.

13In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise, 14Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory.

One is sealed with the Holy Spirit.  When one is sealed it means something.  It means that its purpose can NOT change.

It is similar to when one seals a letter, it goes to the addressee of that letter, not to someone else.  No one else is suppose to open it up, except the addressee.  Our purpose cannot be changed.  We are sealed with the Holy Spirit of God.

Ephesians 1:14.

14Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory.

Similar, when one buys a house.  They give an earnest money deposit with the promise that they will give the rest when they go to settlement.  Remember that this is God giving the earnest money.  Humans may fail to give the remaining money after paying earnest.  They may lose the house, but God is not like us.  When God gives earnest money, He will come up with the rest.  The Holy Spirit is the earnest of our inheritance.  Note the next phrase Ephesians 1:14b.

14Buntil the redemption of the purchase possession

We are a purchased possession unto God.  The Holy Spirit is the seal of ownership.  The seal of unchanging relationship between the believer and God.
