It is a Sign

Exodus 31:12-13

¹²And Yehovah spake unto Moses, saying, ¹³Speak thou also unto the children of Israel, saying, Verily my sabbaths ye shall keep: for it is a sign between me and you throughout your generations; that ye may know that I am Yehovah that doth sanctify you.

Sabbath was to be a sign between God and those that are His.  His followers were to observe the Sabbath throughout all generations.  If we keep the sign, God will sanctify us.

This is something to think about if you are having trouble with your walk.  Maybe it is time to delight yourself in the Sabbath He sanctified, Exodus 31:16-17.

¹⁶Wherefore the children of Israel shall keep the sabbath, to observe the sabbath throughout their generations, for a perpetual covenant. ¹⁷It is a sign between me and the children of Israel for ever: for in six days Yehovah made heaven and earth, and on the seventh day he rested, and was refreshed.

It was a perpetual covenant.  Perpetual means “everlasting”.  The Sabbath is a sign.  This is similar to the sign of the wedding ring worn by those in a covenant relationship.
