Dedication of the Temple

The first significant event that occurred on Sukkoth was the dedication of the Temple, 2 Chronicles 5:1-2.

1Thus all the work that Solomon made for the house of Yehovah was finished: and Solomon brought in all the things that David his father had dedicated; and the silver, and the gold, and all the instruments, put he among the treasures of the house of God. 2Then Solomon assembled the elders of Israel, and all the heads of the tribes, the chief of the fathers of the children of Israel, unto Jerusalem, to bring up the ark of the covenant of Yehovah out of the city of David, which is Zion.

Work for the temple had been completed and all the leaders of the children of Israel were assembled together in Jerusalem.  They were about to dedicate the Temple.  It should be obvious that it was Sukkoth from 2 Chronicles 5:3.

3Wherefore all the men of Israel assembled themselves unto the king in the feast which was in the seventh month.

There is only one feast in the 7th month that all the men of Israel assembled for, it is Sukkoth.  In addition,  2 Chronicles 7:8-10

8Also at the same time Solomon kept the feast seven days, and all Israel with him, a very great congregation, from the entering in of Hamath unto the river of Egypt. 9And in the eighth day they made a solemn assembly: for they kept the dedication of the altar seven days, and the feast seven days.  10And on the three and twentieth day of the seventh month he sent the people away into their tents, glad and merry in heart for the goodness that Yehovah had shewed unto David, and to Solomon, and to Israel his people.

Only one festival fits this description, Sukkoth.  The Temple dedication occurred on the 1st day of Sukkoth.
