Faith Towards God

The previous section discussed Repentance From Dead Works.  Repentance is just one component, Yeshua tells us in Mark 1:15:

15And saying,  The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel.

And Paul in Acts 20:21:

21Testifying both to the Jews, and also to the Greeks, repentance toward God, and faith toward our Lord Yeshua Messiah.

There is repentance towards God and faith towards our Messiah, Yeshua.  These go hand in hand. You cannot have one without the other.

This section will be discussing Faith Towards God.  It will explore the question, is there a God you can have faith in?  There are many agnostics sitting in church pews and those that call themselves Christians who profess to believe; however, in reality, they do not know if it is true.  It is assumed that they know God, when in reality it is only an assumption.  To often it is emphasized believe, but never taught who is this God they are to believe in.

This section will discuss faith:

  • The object of our faith
  • Does God exist?
  • Who is God?
  • How to know He is there
  • What is faith as defined by God himself
  • What faith will do for us
  • Hindrances to faith

Hebrews 6:1

1Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Messiah, let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God,

It is faith towards God.  Towards comes from the Greek word epi {ep-ee’}.  It literally means up to.  Faith towards God is faith that brings one up towards God.  We must remember that in comparison to where God is we are way way down.  We need to be brought up to Him.

That is why in Ephesians 2:5-6:

5Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Messiah, (by grace ye are saved;)  6And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Messiah Yeshua:

When we are born again we are raised up to be with Him.  We need to realize our position.
