1st Messiah

Daniel 9:24

24Seventy weeks are determined upon thy people and upon thy holy city, to finish the transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most Holy.

This is the prophecy of the 70 weeks.  Most Biblical scholars agree that these are weeks of years as oppose to weeks of days.  This can be determined by comparing Daniel 9:24 to Daniel 10:2.  In addition, weeks of days would make this passage utter nonsense.

So, we have 70 weeks of years.  This is equivalent to 490 years.  The 490 years span a period time ending with anointing the most Holy.  The question is, who is the Most Holy?  The simple answer is Yeshua Messiah.  If that is the end, when does the 490 years begin?  Daniel 9:25

25Know therefore and understand, that from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem unto the Messiah the Prince shall be seven weeks, and threescore and two weeks: the street shall be built again, and the wall, even in troublous times.

The 490 years begins when the commandment to restore and build Jerusalem is given.  Nehemiah discusses this event, Nehemiah 2:1-2.

1And it came to pass in the month Nisan, in the twentieth year of Artaxerxes the king, that wine was before him: and I took up the wine, and gave it unto the king. Now I had not been beforetime sad in his presence. 2Wherefore the king said unto me, Why is thy countenance sad, seeing thou art not sick? this is nothing else but sorrow of heart. Then I was very sore afraid,

A discussion occurs between Artaxerxes and Nehemiah, Nehemiah 2:5.

5And I said unto the king, If it please the king, and if thy servant have found favour in thy sight, that thou wouldest send me unto Judah, unto the city of my fathers’ sepulchres, that I may build it.

Nehemiah requested that he be allowed to rebuild Jerusalem, Nehemiah 2:6-7.

6And the king said unto me, (the queen also sitting by him,) For how long shall thy journey be? and when wilt thou return? So it pleased the king to send me; and I set him a time.  7Moreover I said unto the king, If it please the king, let letters be given me to the governors beyond the river, that they may convey me over till I come into Judah;

The order is given.  This is a historical date of 457 B.C.  From this date, plus 490 years, minus 3 ½ years, because it is in the middle of the 70th week, Daniel 9:27.

27 And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.

Remember to subtract 2 years for the transition from B.C. to A.D.  457 B.C. plus 490 years minus 3 ½, minus 2 is 27.5 A.D.  This is when Yeshua was on the cross.
