Hebrew Scriptures

We should have an answer for this Rabbi or anyone else that might be of the same mind set.  If asked, how would you respond?

Most Christians respond to this question with the following, “Jesus came the first time to bring salvation and will return to gather His saints to establish an everlasting kingdom.”  Most Christians would agree with this answer.  However, this is no answer at all.  It avoids the subject and creates more questions than answers.

Some might possibly quote John 21:22:

22Yeshua saith unto him, If I will that he tarry till I come, what is that to thee? follow thou me.

Or Mathew 24:44:

44Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh.

Yeshua said that He was coming back.  Further, Paul a Jewish Rabbi stated in 1 Corinthians 4:5:

5Therefore judge nothing before the time, until the Lord come, who both will bring to light the hidden things of darkness, and will make manifest the counsels of the hearts: and then shall every man have praise of God.

And 1 Corinthians 11:26:

26For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do shew the Lord’s death till he come.

Clearly, Paul, a Jewish Rabbi, told us that Yeshua was returning.  John, another Jew, recorded in Revelation 1:7:

7Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen.

When Yeshua returns all families of mankind would see Him.  It is written throughout scriptures that Yeshua would return a second time.  Most Christians would believe that is conclusive evidence.  Unfortunately, after showing this to the Rabbi, what is believed by many to be irrefutable proof, the Rabbi or any intelligent person would more than likely tell you that this is after fact.  The Rabbi more than likely would tell you to show it to him in his Bible, the Hebrew Scriptures.  The first 39 books of the Bible.  This is where most Christians fail open.  They have no idea if this is discussed in the Hebrew scriptures.

The argument is, the second coming was concocted by the Apostles.  This was done to get people to believe, because Yeshua was not the real messiah.  This has even been stated by those who are not of Jewish faith.  Remember Peter’s words in 1 Peter 3:15.

15But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear:

This study investigates if it was in the plan of God for Yeshua to come twice.  Believers should have answer for those who ask.  It must be scripturally based and it must come from the Hebrew scriptures if it is believed to be authentic. Because whether one recognizes it or not, the Hebrew scriptures are the foundation for our faith.  Without it, there is no foundation for Christianity.
