Rich Man’s Death

 As with Lazarus, the Rich Man’s death is a spiritual death, Luke 16:23.

23And in hell (hades) he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom.

The rich man dies and is in a state called torment.

The Jewish people that did not receive the Lord, Paul writes in Romans 11:7:

7What then? Israel hath not obtained that which he seeketh for; but the election hath obtained it, and the rest were blinded

And Romans 11:17:

17And if some of the branches be broken off, and thou, being a wild olive tree, wert graffed in among them, and with them partakest of the root and fatness of the olive tree;

The branches broken off are Jewish people under pharisaic teaching, who did not receive Yeshua.

Matthew 21:43

43Therefore say I unto you,  The kingdom of God shall be taken from you, and given to a nation bringing forth the fruits thereof.

This was to the Jewish people that did not accept Yeshua, Matthew 8:11-12.

11And I say unto you, That many shall come from the east and west, and shall sit down with Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, in the kingdom of heaven. 12But the children of the kingdom shall be cast out into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

This represents a transition.  The children of the kingdom that were under the rule of the Rich Man, the Pharisees and their teachings, are cast into a state of darkness.  The others sit down with Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob in the kingdom of God.  This is what happened.

Romans 3:20

20Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin.

The wages of sins is Romans 6:23A.

23AFor the wages of sin is death;

The Rich Man had the law, but did not obey the higher application of the law.  The Rich Man goes into a spiritual death condition.  This is not a physical death condition.

Many Pharisees did not accept Yeshua; however, they were in Moses’ seat, a position of authority, Matthew 23:1-2.

1Then spake Yeshua to the multitude, and to his disciples, 2Saying, The scribes and the Pharisees sit in Moses’ seat:

That did not last forever, because after the day of Pentecost, it changed, Matthew 19:28

28And Yeshua said unto them, Verily I say unto you, That ye which have followed me, in the regeneration when the Son of man shall sit in the throne of his glory, ye also shall sit upon twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.

There was a transition of authority from the Pharisees and Sadducees to the lower class of people.
