Before We Minister

We have to realize that even though we may have salvation that we ourselves may not be good ground.  We need to really examine what type of ground we are.  It should be the desire of all believers to want to bear fruit.

For the believer, salvation is more than length of life, there is also quality of life.  To live for ever without freedom from sin, rebellion or disobedience would be a sad existence.  The question we should be asking ourselves is, are we absolutely committed to the work of God in our lives and the lives of our loved ones?  Are we committed to the truth in us?

So many say they want to hear the truth, as long as the truth, is not about them specifically or the truth does not expose them.  So many want to hear the truth, tell them the truth and that is when it gets ugly.  Before we ever minister to anyone else, we need to examine ourselves.  We need to be honest with ourselves.  We ought to be asking ourselves are we just church members or are we members of His body in particular, Romans 11:17.

17And if some of the branches be broken off, and thou, being a wild olive tree, wert graffed in among them, and with them partakest of the root and fatness of the olive tree;

We were grafted in to the olive tree.  This means we left the wild life behind and became part of God’s people.  We are no longer to act like wild olive trees.  We ought to be committed to the word and spiritual growth.

Romans 11:24

24For if thou wert cut out of the olive tree which is wild by nature, and wert graffed contrary to nature into a good olive tree: how much more shall these, which be the natural branches, be graffed into their own olive tree?

We need to quit being that wild olive tree.  We need to be committed to leaving that life behind for the natural olive tree.  We need to get with the program.

So lets take a look at the parable of the Sower.  Remember, we are looking at the various types of ground.  The ground represents the various heart conditions of people.  Lets look at what has to be done to nurture and help grow the seed not only in others but in ourselves as well.  If you open your mind, you too may discover something about yourself.  Something you may have overlooked, that is hindering your own spiritual growth.
