Three Measures of Meal

Luke 13:20-21

20And again he said, Whereunto shall I liken the kingdom of God? 21It is like leaven, which a woman took and hid in three measures of meal, till the whole was leavened.

The three measures represent the three ages that lasted 2000 years.  The first is the Time of the Patriarchs, from Adam to Abraham.  The second is the Time of the Law, from Abraham to Yeshua.  The third is the Time of Grace, from Yeshua on the cross to the time of Yeshua’s return.

In each of these case, they started out pure.  However, as time went on leaven crept in.  The leaven represents the corrupting of the pureness, sin.  This is a reoccurring problem that believers have to continually deal with.  We must be ever vigilant to sanctify our lives from sin.  If not, it will take over our lives, Genesis 4:7.

7 If thou doest well, shalt thou not be accepted? and if thou doest not well, sin lieth at the door. And unto thee shall be his desire, and thou shalt rule over him.
