God’s Perspective of Time

This study explores what the Bible teaches concerning God’s perspective of time and the days of creation.  It will span the time period from the beginning of creation, Genesis 1:1, into eternity, a time period of little more than 49,000 years.  It is contained in this and the follow-on study, Days of Creation.  These studies will stress the importance of Hebrews 10:1.

1For the law having a shadow of good things to come, and not the very image of the things, can never with those sacrifices which they offered year by year continually make the comers thereunto perfect.

And 1 Corinthians 2:6-7.

6Howbeit we speak wisdom among them that are perfect: yet not the wisdom of this world, nor of the princes of this world, that come to nought: 7But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, even the hidden wisdom, which God ordained before the world unto our glory:

Although this subject may be a mystery to many, it is revealed in scriptures.  We just have to take the time to search it out, Proverbs 25:2.

2It is the glory of God to conceal a thing: but the honour of kings is to search out a matter.

This study is a search for truth that will explain time.  It will help the truth seeker align their perspective with God’s perspective.

We will begin with the festivals, Leviticus 23:39.

39Also in the fifteenth day of the seventh month, when ye have gathered in the fruit of the land, ye shall keep a feast unto Yehovah seven days: on the first day shall be a sabbath, and on the eighth day shall be a sabbath.

Although Sukkoth is seven days long, there is an eight day that is sometimes included.  It is a day of rest that follows immediately after the seventh day of Sukkoth.  This study will show that this eight day is not a part of Sukkoth, yet it is closely linked to the meaning of Sukkoth, Leviticus 23:43.

43That your generations may know that I made the children of Israel to dwell in booths, when I brought them out of the land of Egypt: I am Yehovah your God.

Sukkoth is 7 days long.  Every Sukkoth, believers are to build a sukkah.  A sukkah is a temporary structure that comes down after 7 days.  The sukkah is a reminder that our forefathers dwelt in booths when they came out of the land of Egypt and our temporary nature during this lifetime.  Sukkoth commemorates God’s deliverance of our forefathers from Egypt.  And like our forefathers, God has delivered us from the bondage of the greater pharaoh.

One additional fact, although not directly from the Bible, its roots is from the Bible.  In Judaism, time has been segregated into three ages.  These are three two thousand year time periods.  The first is the Patriarchal Age, from Adam to the Covenant with Abraham.  Next is the Mosaic Age or the Time of the Law, from the Covenant with Abraham to the first coming of Yeshua.  Finally there is the Messianic Age or the Time of Grace, from the first coming of Yeshua to His return.  There are different names for these time periods, but they are basically the same.
