Messianic Preferences
In the King James text, the studies have taken the liberty of replacing several words, where appropriate.
- Jesus is replaced with Yeshua
- LORD or GOD with Yehovah
- Christ with Messiah
- Holy Ghost with Holy Spirit
- Church with Assembly
- First Day of the Week with first Sabbath
- Charity with Love
- Elias with Elijah
- Trumpet, where appropriate, with Shofar
Many of these words mean the same thing. For example, the word Christ is from a Greek word; whereas, the word Messiah is from a Hebrew word. Being of Jewish birth, my preference is to use words derived from the Hebrew. Holy Ghost was replaced with Holy Spirit, because it is not a ghost as is thought of today, but rather a Spirit.
However, in the case of the First Day of the Week that was to correct a mistranslation.
