Messianic Preferences

In the King James text, the studies have taken the liberty of replacing several words, where appropriate.

  • Jesus is replaced with Yeshua
  • LORD or GOD with Yehovah
  • Christ with Messiah
  • Holy Ghost with Holy Spirit
  • Church with Assembly
  • First Day of the Week with first Sabbath
  • Charity with Love
  • Elias with Elijah
  • Trumpet, where appropriate, with Shofar

Many of these words mean the same thing.  For example, the word Christ is from a Greek word; whereas, the word Messiah is from a Hebrew word.  Being of Jewish birth, my preference is to use words derived from the Hebrew.  Holy Ghost was replaced with Holy Spirit, because it is not a ghost as is thought of today, but rather a Spirit.

However, in the case of the First Day of the Week that was to correct a mistranslation.
