Why is their so much emphasis on studying the Bible and not learning a particular doctrine?

The Bible should be the authority for all believers.  However, it seems that today more are concerned with a particular Church Doctrine.

Today, Church doctrine has become the method that is used to explain the Bible.  Often, the Church Doctrine of today either excludes certain books of the Bible or denies basic scriptural teachings.

Many believers know their church doctrine better than they know the Bible.  If this is true, one must ask themselves, how do they know that their doctrine is correct?

Scriptures alone should be the basis for our faith and not man’s interpretation.  Over reliance on others for understanding was never God’s intention.  It is the responsibility of all believers to study and understand scriptures.  So that the believer grows in the knowledge of Him.  2 Peter 3:18:

18 But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Yeshua Messiah. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen.

Scriptural understanding should be consistent throughout the Bible and should be the goal of all believers.  We should never rely on another.

Why is there no doctrinal statement?
