Birth of Messiah as foretold by Daniel

The book of Daniel contains a prophecy concerning the Messiah.  Daniel is praying, in Daniel 9:20-23:

20And whiles I was speaking, and praying, and confessing my sin and the sin of my people Israel, and presenting my supplication before Yehovah my God for the holy mountain of my God; 21Yea, whiles I was speaking in prayer, even the man Gabriel, whom I had seen in the vision at the beginning, being caused to fly swiftly, touched me about the time of the evening oblation.  22And he informed me, and talked with me, and said, O Daniel, I am now come forth to give thee skill and understanding.  23At the beginning of thy supplications the commandment came forth, and I am come to shew thee; for thou art greatly beloved: therefore understand the matter, and consider the vision.

Gabriel came to give Daniel understanding and those who study, as well.  Gabriel told Daniel in Daniel 9:24.

24Seventy weeks are determined upon thy people and upon thy holy city, to finish the transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most Holy.

Typically, a prophetic day is a year.  So the word weeks refers to weeks of years, each week being seven years.  This can be understood by comparing Daniel 9 with Daniel 10.  Daniel 10:2-3 is referring to literal days for mourning and fasting, three full weeks.  Clearly this is different, Daniel could not last 21 years without food.  So in the prophesy of Daniel 9, 70 weeks would be 490 years.  At the end of this 490 year time period, there will be an end to sin, and the most Holy, Yeshua, will be anointed.

Daniel 9:27

27And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.

In recent history, this verse has been misinterpreted.  Many claim that it is referring to the Anti-Christ; however, that is not the case.  Daniel 9 is about Yeshua Messiah not Anti-Christ.  Daniel’s prayer was about the Messiah.  Refer to 70 Weeks of Daniel for additional discussion.

Daniel 9:27 states, “and in the midst of the week”, a week split in the middle; therefore, that is 3 ½ years.   Yeshua’s ministry of 3 ½ years was a fulfillment of this verse.  Yeshua’s ministry ended  at Passover, 14th of Nissan.  3 ½ years prior to Passover would be Succoth on 15th of Tishri.   So Yeshua’s ministry started at Succoth, and ended at Passover 3 ½ years later.

One more piece of information, Luke 3:21-23.

21Now when all the people were baptized, it came to pass, that Yeshua also being baptized, and praying, the heaven was opened, 22And the Holy Spirit descended in a bodily shape like a dove upon him, and a voice came from heaven, which said, Thou art my beloved Son; in thee I am well pleased. 23And Yeshua himself began to be about thirty years of age,

Yeshua began His ministry at 30 years of age, as a fulfillment of Number 4:3.

3From thirty years old and upward even until fifty years old, all that enter into the host, to do the work in the tabernacle of the congregation.

Like all Jewish Priests, Yeshua started His ministry at the age of 30.  Yeshua’s ministry started at 30, and He died 3 ½ years later at Passover.  Six months prior to passover is Succoth.  Therefore Yeshua was born at the festival of Succoth.

Exodus 23:14-17

14Three times thou shalt keep a feast unto me in the year. 15Thou shalt keep the feast of unleavened bread: (thou shalt eat unleavened bread seven days, as I commanded thee, in the time appointed of the month Aviv; for in it thou camest out from Egypt: and none shall appear before me empty:) 16And the feast of harvest, the firstfruits of thy labours, which thou hast sown in the field: and the feast of ingathering, which is in the end of the year, when thou hast gathered in thy labours out of the field. 17Three times in the year all thy males shall appear before the Lord Yehovah.

Now you know why, God wanted the Jews in Jerusalem for Succoth.  It was not for some future event, it was for the birth of the Messiah.
