Judges in the Millennium and Those Deceived

In Isaiah 1:26

26 And I will restore thy judges as at the first, and thy counsellors as at the beginning:  afterward thou shalt be called, The city of righteousness, the faithful city.

God declares that He will restore the judges as at the first.  It is important to understand what the Judges of Israel were in the beginning.  This is basic to understanding what the 1000 Year Day of Judgment is all about, Judges 2:18A.

18AAnd when Yehovah raised them up judges, then Yehovah was with the judge, and delivered them out of the hand of their enemies all the days of the judge:

The ministry of the judge was not to declare if one was a sinner or guilty, their purpose was to deliver the people out of the hand of the enemy.  This is exactly what will happen during the 1000 Year Day of Judgment.

In the teaching on the resurrections and return of Messiah, Yeshua will return with His church, Revelation 19:15A.

15AAnd out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron:

Many believers are taught that when Yeshua smites those in Revelation 19, that it will be the end for them.  It is thought that this is at the battle of Armageddon and next He will throw them into hell.  That in itself is illogical and misses the intent of scriptures.  Think about this, how can one smite an individual and in the next breath, rule them?  Especially when in the very next chapter, Revelation 20, it discusses the rule that Messiah will have, Revelation 20:3.

3And cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal upon him, that he should deceive the nations no more, till the thousand years should be fulfilled: and after that he must be loosed a little season.

When the great enemy Satan is placed in the bottomless pit for a 1000 years, God’s people will be under God’s judgments.  Satan will be bound and judgment will be given to believers, if one is faithful.  Today believers are being called to be these judges in this great work of God.  When God casts Satan in the bottomless pit, it will be so Satan should deceive the nations no more.  This means that the nations were in a state of deception.

So who are these nations?  Nations comes from the Greek word ethnos {eth’-nos}.  It literally means foreign nations not worshiping the true God, pagans or heathens.  What must be understood is that believers are never likened to deceived people.

Note that in Revelation 19:20:

20And the beast was taken, and with him the false prophet that wrought miracles before him, with which he deceived them that had received the mark of the beast, and them that worshipped his image. These both were cast alive into a lake of fire burning with brimstone.

The beast and the false prophet had deceived them that received the mark of the beast.  In Revelation 20, they are no longer deceived.  The deceived ones are the gentiles, the nonbelievers.  Not only are there those that are ruling, but there is also a large number of unbelievers who were previously deceived.  They are part of the 3rd group discussed in John 9:39-41, refer to 3 Conditions of Man.  These have not rejected the Lord, but have not received Him because they were deceived.  This is like many people who have been witnessed to today.  They have not refused, they cannot hear us because of the deception in the world today.
