Restitution of Dead Gentiles

Sodom and Gomorrah suffered the vengeance of eternal fire.  A lot of people are under the impression that Sodom and Gomorrah went to hell and are burning there today.  After all, there were homosexuals and all sorts of things occurring in Sodom and Gomorrah.  There are lots of homosexuals in San Francisco, yet God has not sent them off to hell.  Why do those in San Francisco have a better chance at salvation then those who were in Sodom and Gomorrah?

Jude 7

7Even as Sodom and Gomorrha, and the cities about them in like manner, giving themselves over to fornication, and going after strange flesh, are set forth for an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire.

Sodom and Gomorrah suffered the vengeance of eternal fire, but those fires are not burning today.  They just happen to have come from God.  Sodom and Gomorrah were guilty of nothing more than what people are guilty of today.  One difference, homosexuals today who happen to find the Messiah; God saves them, heals them and delivers them.  Praise God they are made new.  Sodom and Gomorrah never had that glorious opportunity for salvation.  Sodom and Gomorrah never heard about salvation.  Does that seem fair?  Is that our God of love?  Or possibly, is there more than most understand?

If any passage may get one to think seriously about the Restitution of All things in the Day of Judgment, this may be the one, Ezekiel 16:53-54.

53When I shall bring again their captivity, the captivity of Sodom and her daughters, and the captivity of Samaria and her daughters, then will I bring again the captivity of thy captives in the midst of them: 54That thou mayest bear thine own shame, and mayest be confounded in all that thou hast done, in that thou art a comfort unto them.

“Thy captives” refers to Judah, Ezekiel 16:55

55When thy sisters, Sodom and her daughters, shall return to their former estate, and Samaria and her daughters shall return to their former estate, then thou and thy daughters shall return to your former estate.

The former estate that is being referred to here is life.  The question is why would God do this?  Ezekiel 16:60-61

60Nevertheless I will remember my covenant with thee in the days of thy youth, and I will establish unto thee an everlasting covenant. 61Then thou shalt remember thy ways, and be ashamed, when thou shalt receive thy sisters, thine elder and thy younger: and I will give them unto thee for daughters, but not by thy covenant.

Sodom and Gomorrah were totally destroyed by God, not one person was left alive.  Yet in the Restitution of All Things, God is going to bring them forth.
