Everlasting Punishment for the Goats

Matthew 25:46

46 And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.

So what is the everlasting punishment the goats go into?  Many claim that the goats are doomed to suffer an eternity in torment with no relief.

This seems to contradict the concept of a loving God.  However, this has been the pervasive thought for over five hundred years.  The belief in hell fire damnation is often based on what one is told.  Few take time to research scriptures to understand God’s ultimately plan for mankind.

Along the same line, if an animal was suffering unimaginable pain with no chance of recovery, the humane person would put the animal to sleep.  Yet most Christians claim that God would have a human suffer for eternity.  Again, this contradicts the very nature of a loving and compassionate God.

Then there are those that claim, He is God and He can do whatever He wants to do.  However, that is not a true statement.  God will not nor can He violate His own character or the law as set forth from the beginning.  God is totally consistent with what is written in the Bible.  He is far more consistent and loving than many portray Him.  The answer for the goats is in Revelation 20:14-15.

14And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. 15And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.

If one is not in the book of life, they are cast into the Lake of Fire.  However, it never states in Revelation that these people will be tormented.  Yet in Revelation 20:10:

10And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.

The Devil is tormented.  Search out the Book of Revelation, non-believers are never tormented in the Lake of Fire.  Refer to Who is Tormented for additional details.

Further, if Hell is a fiery place what sense does it make to cast hell into the Lake of Fire.
