Who is Right

After Adam and Eve ate of the fruit, it appears as if they did not die.  Yet God said in Genesis 2:17:

17But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.

Who is right, God or Satan?  In Genesis 2:17, The Hebrew phrase for surely die is Moat Tamoot.  It literally means dying you shall die.  Man is comprised of a spirit, soul and body.  The day Adam and Eve partook of the forbidden fruit, they died spiritually in the garden.  Just like the rose that is plucked off of the vine, it looks beautiful once plucked.  Only days later, it starts to wilt and falls apart.  It is dead the moment when it is cut off from its life source.

Adam and Eve started the process of dying the day they sinned.  That moment their spirit died.  They were cut off from their life source with no way back.  It is interesting that Adam only lived 930 years?  Peter wrote in 2 Peter 3:8:

8But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.

Adam died in one day of the Lord.  God was right.  We should understand fully how much God was right.  (Refer to Destruction of the Soul for further discussion.)
