Yeshua Rose on the Sabbath

John 19:13-14

13When Pilate therefore heard that saying, he brought Yeshua forth, and sat down in the judgment seat (bema) in a place that is called the Pavement, but in the Hebrew, Gabbatha. 14And it was the preparation of the passover, and about the sixth hour: and he saith unto the Jews, Behold your King!

When Pilate presented Yeshua for crucifixion it was the 13th of Nisan.  It was prior to Passover, it was the preparation day for  Passover.

John 19:30

30When Yeshua therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the spirit.

Yeshua dies.  The time of death is in John 19:31

31The Jews therefore, because it was the preparation, that the bodies should not remain upon the cross on the sabbath day, (for that sabbath day was an high day,) besought Pilate that their legs might be broken, and that they might be taken away.

It had gone from the preparation day of the Passover to the preparation day of the Sabbath, and this Sabbath is a High Day Sabbath.  This means Yeshua died as the day went from 13 Nisan to 14 Nisan.  It was at the dusk of the beginning of the 14th of Nisan, which is Passover.  Passover is prior to the 1st day of the Feast of Unleavened Bread.  The 1st day of the Feast of Unleavened Bread is a Holy Convocation or Sabbath.  Therefore, Passover is the preparation day for the Sabbath.

Luke tells us in Luke 23:56

56And they returned, and prepared spices and ointments; and rested the sabbath day according to the commandment.

They prepared spices, and rested.  The question is, where did they get the spices?

Mark tells us in Mark 16:1

1And when the sabbath was past, Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James, and Salome, had bought sweet spices, that they might come and anoint him.

They had bought spices.  They had to buy them because when the disciples came into Jerusalem, crucifixion was the furthest thing from their mind.  They thought Yeshua was going to bring in the physical kingdom.  They bought the spices on the preparation day for the Sabbath.  The preparation day for the High Day would be Passover during the Day.  They rested on the 1st day of the Feast of Unleavened Bread.  They could not buy them on the Sabbath, all the stores would have been closed.

Going back to Matthew from the Young’s literal translation Matthew 28:1

1And on the eve of the sabbaths, at the dawn, toward the first of the sabbaths, came Mary the Magdalene, and the other Mary, to see the sepulchre,

The first Sabbath mentioned was the 1st Day of the Feast of Unleavened Bread.  The second Sabbath, called the first of the Sabbaths, was the 7th day Sabbath.

Yeshua died as it dawned into Passover.  Yeshua rested on the 1st Day of the Feast of Unleavened Bread.  It was the only day Yeshua was completely at rest for an entire day, and it was a Holy convocation, a Sabbath.  Yeshua rose on the following day which was a 7th day Sabbath.  It was the 2nd day of the Feast of Unleavened Bread, also known as the Feast of Firstfruits.  This fits what Peter tells us in Acts 10:39-40

39And we are witnesses of all things which he did both in the land of the Jews, and in Jerusalem; whom they slew and hanged on a tree: 40Him God raised up the third day, and shewed him openly;

Unlike tradition that has Yeshua rise on the 2nd day, Peter tells us that Yeshua rose the third day.

It also explains why Paul stated in 1 Corinthians 15:20-23

20But now is Messiah risen from the dead, and become the firstfruits of them that slept. 21For since by man came death, by man came also the resurrection of the dead. 22For as in Adam all die, even so in Messiah shall all be made alive. 23But every man in his own order: Messiah the firstfruits; afterward they that are Messiah’s at his coming.

Yeshua rose on the Sabbath, on the Feast of Firstfruits.  Understand that there is an Appointed time.  It is called the Sabbath.
