Enoch was Translated

 So, what happened to Enoch?  Hebrews 11:5a

5aBy faith Enoch was translated that he should not see death;

The question that needs to be answered is, what does it mean to see death?  Because whatever it does mean, Enoch did not see it.  The Bible does answer this question in part.

Psalm 116:3

3The sorrows of death compassed me, and the pains of hell (sheol) gat hold upon me: I found trouble and sorrow.

Psalm 18:4-5

4The sorrows of death compassed me, and the floods of ungodly men made me afraid.  5The sorrows of hell (sheol) compassed me about: the snares of death prevented me.

In both of these verses, hell is the Hebrew word sheol.  The Psalmist refers to an affliction or something that occurs at death.  I will not pretend to claim that I fully understand this.  Based on the Bible, no individual has documented a true death experience.  Extra biblical sources can neither be confirmed nor denied.

What we can be assured of is Enoch did not experience what occurs at death nor is he in heaven.
