Rest in this Lifetime

Hebrews 4:1

1Let us therefore fear, lest, a promise being left us of entering into his rest, any of you should seem to come short of it.

There is a promise of rest left to the believer of today.  However, one can fail to enter into this rest.  To take advantage of this rest, one must heed the word.

Hebrews 4:2

2For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it.

Hebrews 4:2 tells us that the word did not profit the Children of Israel.  This is because the Children of Israel operated in unbelief.  If we are to enter into rest, we must have solid faith mixed with the word, Hebrews 4:3.

3For we which have believed do enter into rest, as he said, As I have sworn in my wrath, if they shall enter into my rest: although the works were finished from the foundation of the world.

If we believe, we can enter into the rest of God in this lifetime.  Imagine that, rest in this lifetime.  When its darkest and many are scurrying about, we can have rest.  The Restitution of All Things will be great, but we can have a greater earnest today.  If, we will heed the word mixed with faith.

As Paul stated in Philippians 4:7

7And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Messiah Yeshua.

This is the rest that the writer of Hebrews is speaking about.  To have the peace that surpasses all understanding is to always be at rest.  Then nothing will move you other than the spirit.
