Shemini Atsereth (DC)

Sukkoth represents the 7000 years from Adam to the end of the millennium.  After the millennium, is eternity.

The next day after Sukkoth is Shemini Atsereth.  It literally means the Eight Festival.  It is the final seventh Holy Convocation.  Although many consider it as an additional day of Sukkoth, it is separate yet related.  Very little is explained in the Hebrew scriptures concerning this final Holy Convocation or Eight Festival.

For New Testament Believers, Shemini Atsereth has significant meaning.  ( Refer to Shemini Atsereth, the 8th Festival for additional details).  Yeshua’s Birth was on the first day of Sukkoth (Refer to Birth of Messiah).  That would mean that the eighth day after Yeshua’s birth was Shemini Atsereth.  The day Yeshua was circumcised, Luke 2:21.

21And when eight days were accomplished for the circumcising of the child,  his name was called Yeshua, which was so named of the angel before he was conceived in the womb.

Shemini Atsereth is the day God Glorified His Son with a name above every name, Philippians 2:9.

9Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:

It is when Yeshua gave the prophesy of the Holy Spirit, John 7:37-39.

37 In the last day, that great day of the feast, Yeshua stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink. 38He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water. 39(But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Spirit was not yet given; because that Yeshua was not yet glorified.)

The last great day is Shemini Atsereth.

Torah readings are completed on Shemini Atsereth in Eretz Yisrael.  This speaks of the endless study of scriptures.

Finally in Colossians 2:10-12:

10And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power:  11In whom also ye are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ: 12Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead.

When Yeshua came to the earth, He came for many reasons.  One of which was so mankind could choose to be whole again.  When Yeshua was circumcised on Shemini Atsereth, He enabled us to be spiritually circumcised and come into a covenant relationship with God.
