Messiah Will Return

The subject of this study is Messiah Will Return.  This is something all Christians should be conversant in from the point of view of the Hebrew Scriptures.  It is a basic foundation of the Christian religion.  Without it, our faith would be on shaky ground and the authenticity of the New Testament Scriptures could be easily refuted.

I caution those who may suggest that this is all just head knowledge, because this is a matter of faith.  When properly understood, it puts our faith on more solid ground.  In the midst of a world that is trying to chip away at our faith, it a subject one should know when witnessing to Jews and non-Jews alike.

There are many today that question whether Messiah will return or even showed up the first time.  Over 25 years ago, I was given a recording of an orthodox Rabbi that had a compelling case against the legitimacy of the Messiah.  The Rabbi claimed that the Messiah had never come.  Part of his bases was that, when the Messiah does come there will be peace on earth.  Well if that was the only criteria, the Rabbi would be right.  Christians would obviously be heathens, because that would refute the first coming of Yeshua.  Further he stated that, when the Messiah does come, it will be obvious to all.  We will read of it in the newspapers and it will be proclaimed through out the world.  We will be able to look out our windows and see peace.  Violence will no longer be in our streets, politicians would serve the people, and death and destruction will end forever.  The Rabbi finished by stating that until all this happens, we know that the Messiah has not shown up.

How would you answer this man?  His statements make a lot of sense.  Yet, Peter tells us in 1 Peter 3:15:

15But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear:

We should have an answer for this individual.  One that is irrefutable.  One that is based on more than one scripture and consistent with the first 39 books of the Bible.  Or else, we could be accused of 2 Peter 1:16.

16For we have not followed cunningly devised fables, when we made known unto you the power and coming of our Lord Yeshua Messiah, but were eyewitnesses of his majesty.

We should be absolutely assured that Christianity is not a cunningly devised fables.  That it is based on the inherent consistency of scriptures.

The subject, Messiah will return, or more appropriately your Bible says He will return, is something all Christians should be conversant in.  It is a basic foundation of our faith.  Without it, we would be on shaky ground and it would bring doubt to the authenticity of New Testament Scriptures.  It a subject one should know when witnessing to Jews and Non-Jews alike.
